Summer storm in Sabadell: 40 calls to Firefighters due to rain and hail

An intense but brief summer storm, accompanied by rain and hail, affected the city of Sabadell and the Vallès Occidental region on Thursday afternoon, leading the Generalitat Firefighters to receive 40 emergency calls.

The sudden change in weather caught dozens of people by surprise, forcing them to seek shelter quickly. Within minutes, the streets went from muggy heat to a full-blown summer storm, although the situation calmed down shortly after.
Between 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM, the rescue service recorded a total of 94 calls across Catalonia. The North Metropolitan Region was the most affected, with 40 alerts originating from Vallès Occidental. The remaining incidents were distributed among other emergency regions.
Meteocat had issued warnings for severe weather in several counties, including Vallès Occidental, Bages, and Moianès. Most of the firefighters' services involved removing tree branches and fallen objects, as well as dealing with water accumulation.
The 112 emergency number received 109 alerts related to the rain, with the majority concentrated in the Barcelona province (99 calls). Vallès Occidental led with 57 alerts, followed by Bages (14) and Vallès Oriental (10). The municipalities with the most calls were Sabadell (17), Sant Quirze del Vallès (14), Terrassa (10), and Sant Cugat del Vallès (8).
