The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the environment through active and recreational activities aimed at children, families, and young people. As explained by Noel Duque, Deputy Mayor for Ecological Transition, the goal is to “generate awareness” and continue the Education for Sustainability Program.
The program will begin on June 1st with an environmental 'improshow' at the Cinema Catalunya, which will address topics such as climate change, pollution, and sustainable mobility in a spontaneous and fun way. The following day, June 2nd, the Casal Cívic de Ca n’Aurell will host a talk on mosquito prevention by the Mosquito Control Service of Baix Llobregat.
Activities will continue on Wednesday, June 3rd, with a guided tour of the AEG area to discover local plant varieties and a workshop on reusing everyday waste. On Friday, June 5th, visitors can tour the water reservoir and the recently opened photovoltaic plant in Can Boada, followed by a workshop on recycling cooking oil.
The week will conclude with the Environment Day celebration on Sunday, June 7th, at Parc de Vallparadís. This main event will feature family and children's activities such as textile and tapestry workshops, experimentation games with natural elements, storytelling, an escape room, and a BioBlitz to discover the park's natural species. Awards for the water contests from the Terrassa Water Observatory (OAT) will also be presented.
