Terrassa completes first phase of Sant Gaietà underground gallery repairs

The local council has reinforced the first 35 meters of a critical tunnel that posed a structural risk to the city center.

The Terrassa City Council has finished the first stage of emergency repairs on the Sant Gaietà street underground gallery, addressing a critical structural risk detected seven meters below ground.

Workers have successfully reinforced 35 meters of the tunnel, spanning from Sant Gaietà street to Mare de Déu dels Àngels street. The intervention was ordered after inspections revealed severe erosion and a high risk of collapse.

The project now moves to its next phase, which involves creating an access shaft beneath the Science Museum. This will allow crews to reach the remaining damaged sections of the collector and continue the stabilization of the city's historic underground network.
