The city of Terrassa will no longer host the international contemporary dance platform CataLANDance, as Tarragona has been officially announced as the host for the 2027 edition.

A new agreement between the Generalitat de Catalunya and Tarragona City Council secures 500.000 euros in funding for the 2026-2029 period. This partnership aims to turn Tarragona into a strategic cultural hub for professional dance promotion.
Mayor Jordi Ballart explained that Terrassa decided not to bid for the event due to high financial demands and a lack of local public impact. Instead, the administration plans to focus resources on the Terrassa Noves Tendències (TNT) festival.

"CataLANDance is the platform to boost the contracting of new companies from the rest of Spain and around the world."

The opposition PSC party has criticized the move, calling it a lost opportunity for the city's international projection. Despite the controversy, the Generalitat emphasized that the festival was always intended to be itinerant across Catalonia.
