The city experiences its most humid quarter since 1972 due to a polar vortex alteration.

The UPC meteorological station in Terrassa has confirmed that the 2025-2026 winter has been the wettest of the current century, reaching a historic 298 liters/m².

Data collected by Josep Maria Gibert shows an exceptional weather pattern not seen in 54 years. This quarter's rainfall more than doubled the city's historical average of 121 liters.

"This winter has been the wettest since 1972. This implies that 69% of Terrassa's current population had never experienced such a rainy winter."

The scientific explanation lies in a polar vortex alteration, which shifted Atlantic fronts toward the Iberian Peninsula, resulting in significant rainfall and wind episodes across Catalonia.
