Strong wind gusts last Thursday in Sabadell affected nearly thirty pine trees in the Can Deu forest, according to the 1859 Caixa Sabadell Foundation, which owns the site.

The storm primarily impacted adult pines located near the main access points, such as the Matadepera road parking area and Sant Julià d'Altura. The iconic cypress at the entrance of the Masia was also lost during the episode.

"The impression can be much more shocking as these are adult pine specimens located mostly in the access areas of the forest."

Officials noted that the damage is minor compared to the devastating 2014 storm, which destroyed 80% of the forest. Young trees planted during the reforestation efforts over the last decade remained largely unaffected by the recent winds.
In the coming days, the foundation, alongside the ADF and Sabadell City Council, will remove the fallen trees and clear the paths, although public access remains restricted due to African swine fever protocols.
