The gala, promoted by the Commerce department, aims to become an annual event to acknowledge the sector. The initiative seeks to highlight the role of local businesses not only as economic drivers and job creators but also as spaces for social interaction and cohesion that help keep the streets and neighborhoods of Montcada i Reixac vibrant.
The Mayor, Bartolo Egea, and the Councillor for Commerce, Dámaris Sánchez, presented the awards across nine categories. Sánchez emphasized the need for events like this to recognize the work done and the importance of commerce for the city, expressing a desire for its annual continuation.
For his part, Egea advocated for greater visibility for the commercial sector's contribution to the city, drawing parallels with the recognition given to sports and culture. He also mentioned the current challenges posed by the tunneling works and the future opportunities for urban transformation.
The awards were given in categories such as 'Talent and Opportunities', 'Commitment to the Territory', 'Active and Revitalizing Commerce', 'Initiative and Entrepreneurship', 'Social Impact', 'Commercial Leadership', 'Legacy and Future', and 'Local Roots and Neighborhood Life'. Additionally, a special mention was made to the municipality's pharmacies for their role in providing care and advice to citizens.
