The agreement also affects the municipalities of Cervelló, Corbera de Llobregat, Molins de Rei, la Palma de Cervelló, Sant Andreu de la Barca, Sant Cugat del Vallès, and Tiana. The final approval was made after the AMB verified that the awarded company meets the technical and economic solvency requirements established in the tender documents.
This process is part of compliance with a ruling by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), issued in October 2020, which recognizes the AMB as the competent administration to determine the management model for the water supply service, in accordance with the powers granted by its creation law.
The new management model aims to adapt the water supply service to the current and future needs of the municipalities. Among the priorities are improving the quality and efficiency of domestic supply, promoting investments to modernize infrastructure, and strengthening the physical and technological security of the network.
Furthermore, it seeks to move towards a system where service costs are better aligned with the specific characteristics and needs of each municipality, in order to ensure more efficient management of this essential service.
