The Colla de Geganters de Rubí kicked off the 2026 season by approving its calendar, highlighting the celebration of 70 years of the giant tradition in the city of Vallès Occidental.

The Ordinary General Assembly, held on January 31, served to approve a year marked by several anniversaries. In addition to the 70 years of tradition, which began on June 29, 1956 with the debut of the first pair, they also celebrate the 30th anniversary of the giantess Laia (1996) and the 20th anniversary of the giant Galderic (2006).
One of the highlights will be at the end of April. On April 23, Sant Jordi Day, the group will set up its traditional stall. On Sunday, April 26, coinciding with the Diada de la Colla, a special gathering of smaller giants will be held to commemorate the anniversaries of Laia and Galderic, with the participation of guest figures. In May, the entity will participate in the Xatos celebration and the Ca n’Oriol neighborhood festivities.
The season began on January 25 at the 35th Castellbisbal Giants Gathering. Throughout the year, the group plans to visit numerous Catalan towns, including Sant Fruitós de Bages, El Prat de Llobregat, Mataró, Sabadell, and Lloret de Mar. International ties will also be strengthened with a trip to Rivesaltes, in Northern Catalonia.
The climax of the 70-year celebration will arrive in September. Besides participating in the Catalan National Day, the central event will be the XXXIII Rubí Giants and Big-Heads Gathering, which will serve as the major commemorative act for the city's long giant tradition. The entity will also bid to organize the Vallès Regional Giants Gathering in 2027.
