The Rubí Carnival program, which will span over a week, introduces two major novelties. On the one hand, the traditional Ball de Mantons is recovered at El Casino on Friday, February 13, a tradition that had been interrupted due to the venue's closure. On the other hand, the Saturday party on the Rambla de Ferrocarril will be extended until midnight with a double DJ session.
The recovery of the Shawl Dance at El Casino and the double DJ session will extend Saturday's party until midnight.
The official kick-off will be on Fat Thursday, February 12, with the Proclamation by Rei Carnestoltes and Reina Encarna at the Municipal Market. This year's poster was selected through an internal competition among students at the edRa School of Art and Design, with the work of Jordi Peiró Simón being chosen. The school has also crafted the trophies for the Comparses Contest.
The main Carnival Parade (Rua) will take place on Saturday, February 14, starting at 6:30 PM, featuring comparsas and percussion groups such as Tronats del Tabal and Explosió Rítmica. Winners of the Comparses Contest can win prizes up to 1,400 €. Furthermore, a Punt Lila (Purple Point) will be set up near the dance venue (from 6 PM to 12:30 AM) to prevent and address sexist and LGTBI-phobic violence.
The festivities will conclude on Ash Wednesday, February 18, with the traditional funeral procession and the burning of the Sardina at L'Escardívol at 5:30 PM, preceded by the children's parade and family workshops on Sunday, February 15.
