An intense downpour hit Sabadell in the early afternoon of December 16, leading to the closure of Gran Via Bridge 1, flooding on main roads, and around fifty emergency calls.

The main thoroughfares affected by the rapid accumulation of water were Rambla d’Ibèria and carretera de Terrassa, where the water nearly overflowed the roadways, according to the City Council. Additionally, several manhole covers popped up in various parts of the city.
The most significant incident on the road network was the flooding of Gran Via Bridge 1, which had to be closed to traffic for a few minutes, repeating problems already experienced during intense rain episodes last November.
Aside from road disruptions, the Firefighters had to intervene at the Francesc Bellapart special education school, located in Merinals, where water initially entered a large interior courtyard and subsequently accessed the classrooms.
The intense rain episode reached its peak between three and four in the afternoon. The Firefighters managed about twenty calls from Sabadell, while Protecció Civil (Civil Protection) recorded a total of 50 alerts, making the city the fourth in Catalonia with the most incidents during the storm.
