This municipal intervention, recently approved by the Local Government Board, plans for the paving of unpaved areas currently used for irregular parking. The project includes the creation of eight new parking spaces between the CAP and the civic center, with access from Feijóo street, and the planting of four additional trees to the twenty already existing.
The paving will be done with granite cobblestones with drainage capacity, a system that favors water absorption and contributes to the sustainability of the space. The execution schedule for the works will be finalized once the contracts are awarded in the coming months.
This action is part of a broader transformation in the Espronceda and Campoamor areas. Directly in front of the CAP, paving works for the sand parking lot are nearing completion. A few meters away, construction continues on the new Jardins del Sud, a project with an investment exceeding 1.5 million euros that will convert the old sand football field on Reyes Católicos street into an 11,000 square meter park with nearly 150 trees and areas for rest and play. These works, which began in February 2025, are expected to conclude in the coming months.
Another significant project in the area is the transformation of the Campoamor Market. The current building will be demolished to construct a new one, which will primarily house a Consum supermarket. According to an announcement by the Plataforma pel Mercat Municipal de Sabadell in mid-March, the new market will also feature seven traditional market stalls and a connecting corridor, as well as an ATM to address the lack of this service in the area.
The plan is for Consum to construct the new 1,180 square meter building with 94 underground parking spaces, in exchange for a canon of 1.5 million euros. Currently, the work is in the administrative phase. Municipal sources told the Diari in March that the company must submit the executive project for the works, at which point a timeline can be determined. Months ago, it was anticipated that the market would be operational by 2027.
