The Sabadell Culture Center, located in the former Gas Museum, will receive an investment of almost 306,000 euros for its interior adaptation, as announced by the City Council.

The Local Government Board of Sabadell has formalized the awarding of the necessary works to transform the old building in Plaça del Gas into a modern cultural and museum facility. This space will house the new headquarters of the city's History Museum.

"Although the former Gas Museum is in good condition, it has been closed for some time, making it necessary to review its facilities and prepare it for the launch of the new equipment."

The actions, divided into two lots (works and installations), include adapting the electrical and air conditioning networks for new uses, commissioning the elevators and automatic entrance doors, and a thorough review of all existing installations. These works complement tasks carried out the previous year, which involved dismantling the exhibition area, removing the facade sign, and minor repairs to damaged spaces and surfaces.
The Sabadell Centre de Cultura is set to become the new cultural hub of Plaça del Gas. The Sabadell City Council acquired the former Gas Museum from Naturgy in 2024 for 3.19 million euros. In addition to this building, the cultural complex will integrate Casa Grau, for which the Fundació Banc Sabadell plans to contribute five million euros. This investment will be used for the rehabilitation of the property and the annexed house, Casa Calvó.
Besides the History Museum, Casa Grau and Casa Calvó will house the Art Museum and part of the Fundació Banc Sabadell's art collection. The former Gas Museum will also feature an auditorium and a space dedicated to the Fundació Antoni de Montpalau, a local entity that holds the largest fashion costume collection in Spain, with over 17,000 pieces.
