Sabadell's Cap d’Any Race breaks participation record and considers circuit homologation

More than 4,180 athletes participated in the 2026 edition, consolidating it as Catalonia's second largest New Year's Eve race.

The We Run organization presented the positive balance of the Cap d’Any Race 2026 in Sabadell on Tuesday, February 3, which registered a record 4,183 participants.

The closing ceremony confirmed the success of the race, which neared 4,200 participants (3,831 adults and 352 children), positioning it as the second most important athletic event in Catalonia held on December 31. For the first time, more than half of the registered runners were from outside Sabadell, demonstrating the growing appeal of the event.

The director, Aleix Ribell, announced that the team is already working on the possibility of homologating the circuit with the Spanish Athletics Federation, seeking to enhance the race in collaboration with the City Council and the Joventut Atlètica de Sabadell. Furthermore, the donation of 5,000 euros from the proceeds to the Avan foundation, dedicated to neurological diseases, was confirmed.

The satisfaction survey revealed that 97 percent of participants had a positive experience and more than 95 percent intend to repeat. Beyond the competition, the Cap d’Any Race expanded its leisure offerings with a New Year's countdown at the Hotel Verdi, hosted by image consultant Marta Pontnou and actress Mariona Ribas, followed by a party at the Maloa nightclub.
