The retired activists collective Iaioflautes de Sabadell protested this Friday in Plaça Sant Roc, demanding that funds allocated to military spending be redirected towards education, healthcare, and housing services.

The movement, which originated from the 15-M mobilizations, distributed leaflets throughout the center of Sabadell and read a manifesto. Participants carried banners with slogans against NATO and US military bases, highlighting the message: “Money for pensions and not for cannons.”

"If we do not mobilize, things will get worse."

The action takes place amid international escalation, where Spanish military spending exceeds 30 billion euros. Recently, US President Donald Trump criticized the Spanish government at the Davos Forum for failing to meet the security investment targets agreed upon with NATO.
This demand aligns with other local anti-rearmament initiatives. Last April, unions and left-wing parties organized a round table at Espai Àgora, promoted by the Committee for Peace, War, and Genocide, to discuss the war industry.

"All investment that goes to armament does not go to social services."
