The Bellaterra Neighbors' Commission has modified its strategy to push for annexation to Sant Cugat del Vallès, asking the Generalitat de Catalunya to resolve the historic "territorial dysfunction," as announced in late December.

This change in focus implies that the neighborhood movement now accepts the move to the neighboring municipality with or without the Decentralized Municipal Entity (EMD), focusing on correcting the administrative belonging they consider outdated compared to the social reality of Bellaterra.
The new strategy has been accompanied by mobilizations, including a concentration last December 23 in front of the Sant Cugat del Vallès City Council, where a manifesto was read with the slogan "Without EMD or with EMD: Yes to Sant Cugat".
Furthermore, the commission recently presented nearly 450 individual applications collected in a short time, adding to the initial support of 60% of the population over 16 years old obtained in the foundational signature collection between late 2018 and early 2019.
Institutionally, the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council approved an Institutional Declaration against the annexation on December 18, while the Bellaterra EMD dismissed creating a joint commission to draft the report that must be submitted to the Generalitat by next January 7.
