The event, held annually in Sant Cugat, serves as a platform to raise awareness against both local and international injustices. This year, attention centered on the conflict in Gaza, despite decreased media coverage since its intensification.
The ceremony included remembering the murdered children, emphasizing that behind every number lies a life, a dream, and a story. This action was described as a call to humanity to defend the universal right to live in peace.
The right to live in peace is universal and entails much more than the mere absence of war; it means placing justice and life at the center of policies.
Organizers highlighted the need to keep empathy and collective consciousness alive in a global context where “voices promoting hatred, fascism, totalitarianism, and disinformation gain ground.” They insisted that this work must be done at all levels, including the municipal one.
Sant Cugat actively promotes a culture of peace through initiatives such as this Day, the involvement of the educational community, and proposals like the School Day of Non-violence and Peace (DENIP). These projects aim to contribute to a more committed society.
