The municipality of Sant Cugat del Vallès registered the highest average gross salary in Catalonia in 2024 for populations over 50,000 inhabitants, reaching 54,500 euros. Sabadell, for its part, achieved an average of 31,852 gross euros, exceeding the Catalan average by more than 100 euros, according to Idescat.
Other towns with salary incomes above the average include Castelldefels (€38,570), Barcelona (€36,466), Cerdanyola del Vallès (€34,631), and Granollers (€32,984). In contrast, Terrassa, co-capital of the Vallès Occidental, was just below 30,000 gross euros annually (€29,988).
One of the most notable findings is the gender pay gap. While in Sabadell the difference between men (€35,271) and women (€28,191) is around 7,000 euros, in Sant Cugat this gap widens to almost 20,000 euros (€63,625 for men and €45,705 for women).
Regarding sectors, the branches with the highest incomes in Catalonia are Communications, financial and real estate activities (€45,469), and Public Administration, Defense, and mandatory Social Security (€38,544). Furthermore, permanent contracts (€31,804) exceed temporary ones (€25,788), and full-time work (€34,171) is nearly double that of part-time (€18,703).
