The Mayor of Sant Cugat del Vallès, Josep Maria Vallès, requested the Minister of Territori, Sílvia Paneque, to make the Vallvidrera Tunnels free temporarily due to the persistent crisis in the Rodalies commuter rail network.

Josep Maria Vallès made the request public to the Minister of Territori, Sílvia Paneque, over the weekend, demanding that the Vallvidrera Tunnels be free as long as the Rodalies service “chaos” continues. Vallès used the social network X to explain that he had submitted this demand, citing the Garraf toll as a precedent. So far, the request has not received a positive response.
This request comes amid severe road congestion. The Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT) recorded significant traffic jams on Monday morning on access roads to Barcelona, including 10 kilometers on the Ronda Litoral and Ronda de Dalt, and long queues on the A-2, B-23, and C-32, exacerbated by the rail problems.

"immediate solutions from Adif and Renfe"

Albert Dalmau · Acting Minister of the Presidency
The Catalan Government responded to the crisis by reinforcing the usual interurban bus service by 175% on routes coinciding with the train, especially connecting Vallès Occidental and Maresme with Barcelona. In total, one hundred buses were added to cover the routes with the highest demand from Rodalies users.
In parallel, the Acting Minister of the Presidency, Albert Dalmau, has requested to appear before the Parliament plenary session this Wednesday to provide explanations about the Rodalies situation. Dalmau, who was already scheduled to replace President Salvador Illa in the control session, demanded “immediate solutions” from Adif and Renfe via X.
