The Consell Comarcal del Vallès Occidental is participating in the European project MOTORS OF GROWTH, which seeks new strategies to attract and retain skilled talent and enhance territorial competitiveness. At an international meeting held on Thursday, October 22nd, in Sant Quirze del Vallès, the regional council presented its virtual escape room «No puc escapar de la indústria» (I can't escape industry), an innovative tool designed to introduce young people to industrial professions.
This initiative is part of the Vallès Occidental Motor Industrial strategy, driven by the Consell Comarcal to improve the competitiveness, innovation, and sustainability of the region's industry. The European project MOTORS OF GROWTH, launched in May 2025 and scheduled to run until June 2029, aims to improve public policies related to talent and regional competitiveness through cooperation among six European partners: the Västerbotten region (Sweden), the Sant Quirze del Vallès City Council (Spain), CNA Emilia-Romagna (Italy), the National Employment Agency (Bulgaria), the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region (Germany), and the Regional Council of Normandy (France).
The virtual escape room uses gamification to spark young people's interest in professional training pathways linked to industry, offering an interactive and engaging experience. This action is part of the Consell Comarcal's work axis on talent, qualification, and employment in industry, continuing efforts to foster industrial vocations, enhance awareness of professional opportunities, and address the need for qualified personnel in local businesses.
During the event, other European best practices were also shared, such as the public-private collaboration experience of the Association of Entrepreneurs and Owners of the Industrial Estates of Sant Quirze del Vallès to improve industrial parks. Additionally, ACCIÓ presented the Tecniospring program for attracting research talent, and the Servei Públic d’Ocupació de Catalunya (SOC) introduced Catalunya Incoming, an initiative focused on attracting international talent.
