The city of Terrassa is hosting the filming of the 3Cat fiction series Gènesi, which recreates the beginnings of Ferran Adrià and the restaurant El Bulli, featuring actors like Miquel Fernández and Ivan Massagué.

The replica of the emblematic Cala Montjoi restaurant, which embodied the global gastronomic revolution, has been installed at the Parc Audiovisual de Catalunya (PAC) in Terrassa. This set, covering 240 square meters (110 dedicated to the kitchen), was designed to be “faithful” to the original, which co-founder Juli Soler described as “rustic-shabby.”

"This fiction will be a great showcase for our territory and is designed to go beyond our borders, showing a powerful Catalonia to the world."

The series, directed by David Pujol, focuses on Ferran Adrià (played by Miquel Fernández) and his partner Juli Soler (Ivan Massagué), who hailed from Terrassa. The cast also includes Carlos Cuevas as Albert Adrià and Mónica López as a culinary critic. The local connection is strengthened by the participation of actor Pere Arquillué and production manager Bernat Llonch.
The filming, which began on December 1 and will conclude on February 13, utilized chefs who previously worked at El Bulli, such as Eduard Bosch and Marc Cuspinera, to prepare over 70 real dishes featured in the fiction. In addition to Terrassa, where the interiors are recreated, filming took place in Maresme, the Costa Daurada, Montserrat, and used the actual entrance door of Cala Montjoi. The premiere will be on 3Cat next autumn, followed by Netflix distribution across Spain and the Americas.
