The controversy erupted following statements by Mayor Jordi Ballart, who expressed surprise at the alleged disappearance of the Terrassa Oest station from the Rodalies Plan. The Commissioner for the Integral Transfer of Rodalies, Pere Macias, countered that the infrastructure "remains in place," although he admitted it was awaiting an informative study commissioned in 2021, which was taking a long time.
This political tension eased with the approval of a motion in the Municipal Plenary aimed at ensuring the station would not be relegated. Nevertheless, Jovent Republicà has insisted on its "immediate construction" and has also called for the urgent implementation of the R-Orbital and R-Transversal lines of Rodalies.
The construction of Terrassa Oest was approved years ago. This infrastructure is absolutely necessary for a large city like ours, but where is this station?
The ERC youth wing also criticized the "unacceptable" conditions of the Rodalies service, citing constant delays and dirty stations, such as the frequently broken escalators at Terrassa Est. Furthermore, they highlighted the discomfort caused by schedule changes introduced by the urban bus operator TMESA earlier this year, which increased frequency gaps and led to passenger overcrowding.
