The municipal decision, according to City Council sources, is based on 'a coexistence problem' with other users and the need to 'ensure safety' in the space. A week after notifying Egara Power, eight entities also using the La Cogullada facility called a press conference to express their position.
The associations, including the La Cogullada Neighborhood Association, the District 4 Senior Citizens' Association, Club Boxing Terrassa, Club Patinatge Terrassa, Handbol Terrassa, Club Taekwondo Terrassa, and Terrassa Fundació 1906, issued a joint statement. In this document, they expressed their unconditional support for the Terrassa City Council's resolution.
This decision is made after exhausting all avenues of dialogue and in the face of the lack of commitment from the person responsible for Egara Power, an individual who has proven to be conflictive and unwilling to respect coexistence rules.
The entities emphasized that the presence of the person responsible for Egara Power generated 'an atmosphere of tension and discomfort' among facility users. According to their statement, this individual 'has been the main obstacle to finding a peaceful solution' to disagreements, due to their 'aggressive and uncooperative attitude'.
Aurelio Torres, representative of Club Boxing Terrassa, illustrated the situation by mentioning a recent incident where, according to him, a door was kicked open by someone from Egara Power. 'This projects an image of violence to young children that we cannot allow', Torres stated, adding that the City Council even had to hire security personnel. He also affirmed that all entities have had problems with the person responsible for the expelled entity.
We cannot allow one person with this attitude to undermine the coexistence and good atmosphere that we have worked so hard to build.
The statement concludes that the closure of the space to Egara Power is 'a necessary measure to protect coexistence and social cohesion in La Cogullada'. The entities thanked the municipal decision and expressed hope that a new use for the space will be found that benefits the community and promotes social integration.
