The Terrassa City Council confirmed that the lateral waste collection system now reaches 75% of the population, following the recent installation of new container batteries in the Can Parellada and Les Fonts neighborhoods this week.

The lateral collection system, which began to be established in 2014, has involved the placement of a total of 629 batteries, totaling 3,145 high-capacity containers. These containers are designed for the five fractions: residual, paper, cardboard, organic, and glass.
The municipal government's goal is to continue expanding this system in those neighborhoods where its implementation is viable. Therefore, coverage increases progressively each year, seeking to optimize urban waste management.
Currently, 55.6% of the city's container batteries use lateral collection, while the remaining 44.3% maintain the rear collection system. The latter, with 499 batteries, is reserved for areas with topography or urban characteristics that prevent access by lateral collection vehicles.
