Over 1,300 students from secondary schools in Vallès Occidental are participating in the 'Els Ulls de la Història' project during the 2025-2026 course, bringing Catalan cultural heritage closer through virtual reality.

The Institut Escola Feixes de Terrassa hosted the project presentation last Wednesday, the 28th, attended by Montserrat Capdevila Tatché, Director of Territorial Services of Education for Vallès Occidental. Students from the first and second years of ESO at this center and the Institut de Matadepera have already experienced the immersion.
This initiative by the Departament de Cultura, which integrates heritage into the secondary curriculum, is deployed simultaneously thanks to six itinerant Virtual Reality rooms. The experience, lasting about 25 minutes, allows students to interact with the environment and discover the monumental sites firsthand.

This is an experiential and collective experience where technology is placed at the service of content.

During the presentation in Terrassa, students were able to delve into the discovery of the Roca dels Moros del Cogul Cave Paintings and the medieval Catalonia experience focused on the Miravet Castle. The promoters emphasize that the virtual room allows students to “travel to the past and learn about the people and places that make up our legacy, without needing to leave the educational center”.
In addition to these two monuments, the project offers immersive experiences at the Cartoixa d’Escaladei, the Romanesque Center of the Vall de Boí, and soon, the Monumental Complex of Sant Pere de Rodes. It is also complemented by the territorial promotion space “Espai Moja: Catalunya Patrimoni Viu,” located in the Palau Moja in Barcelona.
