Mobility was a central focus of the meeting, held at the Palau de la Generalitat with the presence of the Minister of the Presidency, Albert Dalmau. The need to improve railway infrastructure, which in cities like Terrassa is considered “clearly collapsed,” was emphasized. This issue is crucial given the Government's challenge to define a new management model for Rodalies by 2026.
Regarding housing, Cardona addressed social rental, noting that the Government has put several public plots up for tender, four of which are located in Terrassa, to increase the affordable housing stock. Concern was also shared regarding homelessness, a phenomenon affecting medium and large cities across the metropolitan area.
“"It was a good moment to ask for more investment for the Terrassa City Council, the largest in the entire Metropolitan Arc. Local governments are the most underfunded."
Local financing occupied a prominent part of the conversation, coinciding with the recent presentation of the new singular financing proposal. Despite the importance of the Association of Municipalities of the Barcelona Metropolitan Arc, which includes ten cities and nearly a million inhabitants, Cardona warned that Terrassa's continuity is not guaranteed if tangible results are not achieved, as they are not part of the Executive Committee.
