According to the Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC), rainfall could exceed 90 l/m² in three hours and locally accumulate around 150 l/m². The showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms and strong wind gusts.
Civil Protection reminds the public of the main recommendations in case of heavy rainfall: do not cross rivers, streams, ravines, or flood-prone areas, either on foot or by vehicle; do not park in streams, torrents, or low-lying areas susceptible to flooding; and avoid approaching riverbeds and streams, even if it is not raining at the moment.
When driving, it is recommended to reduce speed, increase safety distance, and preferably use main roads. If water enters the vehicle, exit immediately if it can be done safely and move to higher ground. At home, do not go down to basements, garages, or low-lying areas if water is entering.
