The Government of Catalonia has suspended all educational, university, and sporting activities for this Thursday across the region due to a severe windstorm with gusts expected to exceed 100 km/h.

Interior Minister Núria Parlon announced the measures, which also include postponing non-urgent healthcare. Significant wind speeds have already been recorded in Espot and Puig Sesolles, where gusts reached 140 km/h in the Vallès Oriental area.

"This is a top-tier wind event. Thursday will only be the first course of an episode with two peaks."
