The fire, which started on Saturday evening in the town of Trevillac, has already burned more than 1,500 hectares. Authorities have confirmed that the incident has left a firefighter and a civilian seriously injured.
The situation has had direct consequences for the sporting event. The Tour de France stage scheduled to depart from Granollers has been affected by security measures, with public access and the publicity caravan being cancelled.
Throughout this Sunday, a team of 750 firefighters and ten aerial units are working to contain the flames in an area where French authorities have described the situation as very complicated.
