The Granollers En Comú municipal group has urged the Granollers City Council to make the fight against child poverty a top priority, proposing a universal benefit of 200 euros per month for every minor.

This initiative follows the Sustainable Development Strategy approved by the Council of Ministers on February 10, 2026. The national plan, presented by Minister Pablo Bustinduy, aims to strengthen the welfare state with 100 targets set for 2030.

"Child protection should not depend on a household's ability to handle complex paperwork or be blocked by administrative barriers."

According to Idescat, the risk of poverty among children in Catalonia reached 36.5% in 2025. The proposal advocates for an automatic management model to ensure that low-income families are not excluded due to bureaucratic hurdles.
