The Tourism Service of the Consell Comarcal del Vallès Oriental participated in the tenth edition of the Shimano Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin 2026, an international cycling festival held in Girona. The participation took place within the stand of the Tourism Services Management of the Barcelona Provincial Council, under the brand Barcelona és molt més.
Throughout the three days of the festival, attendees had the opportunity to learn firsthand about cycling-related proposals in Vallès Oriental, including the Vallès Oriental Gravel Route. This initiative aims to highlight the region's natural and cultural heritage through gravel cycling, a growing modality.
The Shimano Sea Otter Europe attracted over 74,000 visitors, who enjoyed a comprehensive program of activities such as talks, round tables, bicycle test areas, specialized equipment stands, sports and family activities, and networking opportunities.
The Vallès Oriental Gravel Route is a circular itinerary spanning 343 kilometers, divided into six stages. The route traverses the diverse landscapes of the region, showcasing its gastronomy and heritage, with an average accumulated elevation gain of 1,213 meters. It is designed for gravel enthusiasts seeking territory-linked cycling tourism experiences.
The tenth edition of Sea Otter Europe in Girona solidifies the festival as an essential meeting point for the cycling sector, from industry players to the general public. The event originated as the European version of the Sea Otter Classic in California.
This initiative by the Consell Comarcal contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), within the framework of Agenda 2030.
