The Granollers City Council plenary session has initially approved the 2026-2031 Local Housing Plan, a strategy endowed with 23 million euros to build 599 new apartments and alleviate the lack of affordable supply.

The document, which received initial approval with 19 votes in favor and 6 abstentions, establishes a roadmap for the next five years. Key measures include the promotion of new housing in various urban sectors, such as Lledoner or the Ramon Berenguer area, as well as the direct purchase of apartments on the market by the local government.
The plan's diagnosis highlighted the increase in rental costs in the city, which have risen by 62% since 2014, reaching an average of 774 euros per month. Additionally, more than 700 vacant homes have been identified, representing 2% of the total local residential stock.

"The construction of 12 new municipal homes in Ramon Berenguer, 136 apartments in Lledoner, a development for which we will open a tender to find a promoter this July, 66 social housing units that we will specify in the coming months, and the direct purchase of housing on the market."

During the plenary session, other measures were also approved, such as the new 2026-2030 Local Urban Agenda Action Plan and the modification of tax ordinances to implement an 'a la carte' tax payment system. The housing document will now remain in a public information period for 30 days before its final approval.
