Granollers Leads Migratory Growth in Vallès Oriental in 2024

Granollers consolidated its position in 2024 as the municipality with the highest migratory growth in Vallès Oriental, with a balance of 1,249 people, according to Idescat data.

Data from the Institut d'Estadística de Catalunya (Idescat) reveals that Granollers experienced a net migratory balance of 1,249 people during 2024. This figure results from 5,271 immigrations and 4,022 emigrations, placing it at the forefront of the region. It is followed by Mollet, with 826 people, and Lliçà d'Amunt, with 303.
Regarding the demographic profile, the majority of new residents are men (811) compared to women (438). More than half of these additions, specifically 643 people, are young individuals aged between 15 and 29, indicating a trend towards the arrival of a young population in the municipality.
97% of Granollers' migratory growth comes from external migrations, with an increase of 1,212 people from other countries. The majority of these new inhabitants (769) come from the American continent, followed by Africa (468). Interestingly, the migratory balance with other European countries was negative, with a loss of 116 people.
Internal migrations with the rest of Spain contributed a positive balance of 35 people, while with the rest of Catalonia, the balance was almost neutral, with only two more people immigrating than emigrating. In the municipality of Les Franqueses, migratory growth was 224 people, making it the eighth in the region with the highest balance.
Vallès Oriental, with a migratory balance of 5,266 people in 2024, is consolidated as the fourth Catalan region with the highest growth in this area. In addition to Granollers, other municipalities with significant growth include Sant Fost (294 people) and Caldes de Montbui (280 people). However, four municipalities recorded negative balances: Cardedeu (-7), Tagamanent (-8), Fogars de Montclús (-8), and Campins (-17).
