Rodalies began the progressive restoration of rail service in Catalonia on Thursday, launching the R2 line between Sant Celoni and El Prat Airport following the Gelida accident.

The reactivation of the R2 line, connecting Sant Celoni with the Aeroport del Prat, was communicated to several union organizations during a meeting held on Thursday afternoon, with the exception of Semaf.
During the meeting, Renfe explained that safety checks remain active across the entire rail network. These reviews are carried out using test trains with drivers and representatives from Adif and Renfe to verify the state of the infrastructure following the fatal accident that occurred this week in Gelida.

The exploration and review tasks of the railway network, activated exceptionally after the Gelida accident, should become routine and daily procedures.

To speed up the resumption of service, drivers are being transported by taxi to different points of the network. It is expected that the remaining Rodalies and Regional lines will be reactivated during Friday.
Unions such as UGT, CCOO, CGT, Alternativa Ferroviària, and the Sindicat Ferroviari attended the afternoon meeting, along with representatives from Renfe and Adif, as well as the Secretary of Mobility and Infrastructure, Manel Nadal, and the Commissioner for the Transfer of Rodalies, Pere Macias.
