A group of teachers met this afternoon in front of the Palau d'Esports in Granollers, one hour before the official start of the Congress of Educating Cities. The mobilization, coordinated by the Coordinadora Educativa del Vallès Oriental, aimed to "welcome the congress attendees" and use the event to make their demands heard.
The teachers, who initially gathered outside the venue, entered the building chanting slogans such as "Public and quality education!" and "No to the closure of Joan Solans!". "We believe this is the ideal setting to continue with the demands of this May," stated Sergi Palau, a teacher at the Quatre Vents school in Canovelles.
This action is part of a week of mobilizations. For tomorrow, Wednesday, a "counter-congress" is planned, described as even "more important" by sources from the Coordinadora Educativa del Vallès Oriental. This day will coincide with the educational strike called throughout Catalonia.
Tomorrow's event will begin in front of the Congress at 9 AM. Afterwards, participating teachers will march to the location where a day of demands, yet to be determined, will take place. This will include round tables, musical performances, and the participation of cultural entities like the Diables (devils).
