The Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya (CSC) presented a poster on the institution's origins at the XXIII International Congress of the History of Catalan Medicine, held on October 16 and 17 in Granollers.

The Consortium, a collaborator of the event organized by the Reial Acadèmia de Medicina de Catalunya (RAMC) and the Societat Catalana d’Història de la Medicina (SCHM), reviewed the background that led to the creation of the Consorci Hospitalari de Catalunya (CHC) on March 26, 1983.
The work, signed by the Consortium's general director, Francesc José María, and by Carles Manté (general director of the entity between 1986 and 2004), explains how the need to coordinate the actions of municipalities with those of hospitals led to the establishment of the CHC. Initially, it brought together nineteen entities and is considered the first health consortium in Spain.
The poster also highlights the institution's contribution to shaping a public-use hospital network throughout the country, upon which the Catalan healthcare model was developed, as well as the entity's evolution to the current Consorci de Salut i Social de Catalunya.
The congress, under the theme "History, science and health: a meeting with the Catalan medical legacy," aims to showcase the latest historical studies and bring together professionals in medicine and health sciences, as well as historians and researchers interested in this field.
