Llinars del Vallès has renewed its four honorary flowers from the 'Viles Florides' movement, an award for urban green space and sustainability policies presented by the Catalan Ornamental Horticulture Confederation.

The municipality in the Vallès Oriental region received the award at an event held in Reus, where nearly 180 municipalities were recognized for their policies favoring urban green spaces and sustainability. Llinars del Vallès was part of the group that received a near-maximum score, alongside other locations such as Bagergue, Castelló d’Empúries, Figueres, Igualada, la Seu d’Urgell, Lloret de Mar, Malgrat de Mar, Olot, Reus, Roses, Salou, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Sant Hilari Sacalm, Solsona, and Vila-seca.
During the gala, Mercè Martínez, president of the Catalan Ornamental Horticulture Confederation, highlighted the role of 'Viles Florides' in combating climate change, emphasizing the function of parks, gardens, and urban trees in counteracting global warming.
The event was attended by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food, Òscar Ordeig, who thanked the municipalities for their work in environmental improvement and pledged the department's support to continue in this direction, encouraging more municipalities to join.
The next edition of the 'Viles Florides' Gala will be held in La Seu d’Urgell.
The 'Viles Florides' initiative promotes the transformation of urban green and landscaped spaces, valuing natural and landscape richness, and improving residents' quality of life through the protection of these areas and social awareness regarding environmental sustainability.
