Around one hundred people gathered this Tuesday, March 3rd, at Plaça del Blat in Valls to demand the continuity of the Eladi Homs School.

The Department of Education has agreed to offer I3 (preschool) places for the 2026-2027 academic year, reversing a previous decision that threatened the 40-year-old institution. The community had feared for the school's survival after being told no new students would be admitted for the second year in a row.

"The Department has taken a step back; it is good news for the city."

Dolors Farré · Mayor of Valls
The school's principal, Núria Gavarró, welcomed the news but will meet with regional authorities this Wednesday to ensure that more than the initial five spots can be opened if demand increases. The city of Valls currently maintains eleven educational lines across its public and private schools.
