A forest fire in Aiguamúrcia, Querol, and Pontons is affecting approximately 80 hectares and has resulted in the confinement of five municipalities for safety reasons.

The fire is spreading through forest land in the municipalities of Aiguamúrcia and Querol in Alt Camp, and Pontons in Alt Penedès. As a precautionary measure, Civil Protection has issued an ES-Alert to confine the population of Aiguamúrcia, La Llacuna, Pontons, Querol, and Torrelles de Foix.
Seventy-four ground crews and 11 aerial units, totaling over 200 personnel from the Generalitat Firefighters, are involved in the extinction efforts. Two large-capacity aircraft have been requested from the Ministry for Ecological Transition. Weather conditions are adverse, with temperatures at 32.7 degrees Celsius, 30% relative humidity, and wind gusts up to 28 km/h.
The fire is burning intensely, generating secondary outbreaks about 200 meters away and advancing at approximately 2 km/h. The confinement order, issued at 4:47 PM, includes several urbanizations in Querol, Aiguamúrcia, La Llacuna, and Torrelles de Foix, affecting around 2,500 people. Residents are advised to close doors and windows and avoid the area.
The fire is moving northwest and has already crossed the T-224 road, although other sections of the route are expected to help contain it. Aerial resources are working on the flanks to halt the advance towards urbanizations and control secondary outbreaks. Efforts are also focused on preventing expansion at the fire's rear.
According to calculations by the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) unit, 97.37% of the affected area is forested. The Rural Agents and the Aerial Support Group continue to assess the fire's impact.
The Catalan Traffic Service reports that the T-244 road between Aiguamúrcia and Querol is completely closed to traffic.
