The preliminary events for Montferri's main festival begin today, Wednesday, with a family walk and a picnic dinner in plaça Gaià, concluding with a nighttime splash with DJ music at the pool. Tomorrow, Thursday, the III Craft Products Fair will take place at the Hort de la Rectoria, featuring workshops and raffles, followed by a concert by the group Destil·lats.
The main festival itself kicks off on Friday with inflatables and a foam party at the municipal pool. The official opening speech will be at 2 PM at the Town Hall. In the afternoon, a children's drawing contest will be held at the Hort de la Rectoria, including hot chocolate. Simultaneously, semifinals for various local championships such as botifarra, domino, rummikub, petanque, and ping-pong will take place. The evening will feature a popular sardine feast at the Hort de la Rectoria and musical performances by Femme Versions and The Lubricks.
Saturday will begin with a children's parade featuring La Geneta de Montferri and La Cuca de Puigpelat as invited groups, following a children's breakfast. A water festival will be held in plaça Gaià while the championship finals are played. In the afternoon, clown Dokum will perform in plaça Gaià. This year's novelty will be the Rumbero evening from the bell tower with Rumbero Músic. The musical day will continue with the group Popurris at the Hort de l’Abadia and DJ Seryi at plaça Gaià.
Sunday, August 23rd, will mark the end of the festival with a solemn mass in honor of Sant Bartomeu at the parish church, followed by a blessing. After the service, a musical vermouth with DJ Monsieur Gustave will liven up the Hort de la Rectoria. The festival dinner and the awards ceremony for the championships will precede a monologue show by Paco Enlaluna. The final event will be a fireworks display with the dimonis de Montblanc.
