The Robert Gerhard Foundation was officially constituted on January 8 at the Biblioteca de Catalunya, aiming to preserve, study, and internationally project the work of the Catalan composer.

This non-profit organization seeks to project the work, thought, and legacy of Robert Gerhard (Valls, 1896Cambridge, 1970) nationally and internationally. The presentation took place at the Biblioteca de Catalunya, where the composer worked during the time of the Republic.

The Foundation aims to become a reference tool for projecting the composer's legacy and an active agent in defending Catalan musical heritage and contemporary creation.

Among the main activities planned for the 2026–2027 biennium is the creation of the International Robert Gerhard Festival. This festival will be held in Barcelona in the autumn of 2026 in collaboration with L’Auditori, the Museu de la Música, and ESMUC, including prior programming in Valls and the Camp de Tarragona.
The presentation ceremony, led by journalist and writer Xavier Bosch, featured the Foundation's president, Edmon Colomer, who highlighted the need for a stable structure with international projection for Gerhard's legacy. Musicologist Oriol Pérez-Treviño and poet Carles Duarte also participated, contextualizing the composer's figure.
The Mayor of Valls, Dolors Farré, emphasized the territorial link with the composer's birthplace. The event concluded with musical performances, including a fragment of the ballet Les Feux de la Saint-Jean, performed by pianist Jordi Masó.
