The Valls City Council has announced a record investment of €6,569,000 for public space projects and actions during 2026, which will be distributed throughout the city.

This historic budget will be used to improve about fifty streets, squares, and parks. Over €3.7 million will be invested in asphalting works, sidewalk improvements, and public road urbanisation. The goal is to modernise infrastructure and make it more efficient.
The renovation of public service networks is also a priority. Notably, an investment of €653,000 is allocated for the complete renewal of the southern ring of the water network, including 1.5 kilometres of new pipelines in the La Colla Vella, Plaça de Sant Francesc, Portal Nou, and Carretera de Tarragona neighbourhoods.
Public lighting will continue to be modernised with LED technology, with a budget of €290,000. This technology already covers 76.8% of the city, offering better illumination, cost savings, and sustainability. The modernisation of lighting in the industrial estate will be completed.
Part of the investments have already been executed. In Carrer Blanquers in the industrial estate, asphalting works have been carried out, part of a total investment of €595,000 for the industrial zone. Works have also concluded in Plaça dels Pins, in the Xamora neighbourhood, including the planting of 35 trees and lighting upgrades.
The asphalting plan includes nine streets, covering 21,591 square metres of new roads, such as the final section of Carrer Basters and the Carreteres del Pla and de Tarragona.
Regarding sidewalk improvements, works on Carrer Pont de Goi have been completed, and those on Carrer Creu de Cames, chosen by citizens, are underway. The central area of Passeig Tarradellas will also be improved.
The most significant project is the comprehensive transformation of Sant Francesc, with an investment of €2.4 million. This work will recover vestiges of the medieval wall and create a new accessible promenade, serving as a new entrance to the Historic Centre.
In green spaces and open areas, €1.3 million will be allocated to fifteen projects for children's and health parks. The recovery of the green space at Hort del Rector will begin, providing access to ancient wall vestiges in the Sant Antoni section.
Finally, the rural road network will receive €319,000 for works covering 26,905 m2. Works are already underway on Camins Nou and de Fontscaldes, with plans for actions on Camins de Puigpelat, del Bosc, de l'Atalaia, and d'Alió.
