Puigpelat cemetery celebrates its centenary with a solemn ceremony

The event, scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, December 21, will feature a historical talk, live music, and the lighting of 1,230 candles.

The Puigpelat Municipal Cemetery will commemorate its centenary on Sunday, December 21 in the afternoon with an event combining historical memory, music, and a tribute to the 1,230 registered residents.

The centenary celebration of the Puigpelat cemetery will begin with the customary presentations. Subsequently, the historian Joan Canela will offer a detailed explanation of the evolution of the site, including its previous locations.
The ceremony will continue with a musical performance starting at 5:45 p.m. The Cordaire String Quartet will perform various pieces from different styles and eras, adding an artistic component to the commemoration.
One of the most moving moments will be the unveiling of the Cemetery Cross, led by the mayor and the priest. Following this, 1,230 candles will be lit, symbolizing each of the inhabitants currently registered in the municipality in the Alt Camp region.
