The Gran Festa de la Calçotada, along with the Firagost, is considered the most important festive and gastronomic explosion of the year in Valls, attracting between 25,000 and 35,000 visitors and expecting to reach 20 million calçots consumed. This year's edition focuses on consolidation, following improvements introduced in the organization of tastings and the cooperative space.
“"The Calçotada Observatory will demonstrate that this event moves over 100 million euros, with direct impact on the primary sector, services, tourism, and hospitality."
Among the notable novelties, the Llibre de la Calçotada (Calçotada Book), which chronicles the history of the festival, is being presented, and the Calçotada Observatory will be unveiled. Furthermore, there has been a change in sponsors with the incorporation of the Fundació Domenys, alongside Salses Fruits and Europastry. The festival also includes a popular calçotada at the Cooperativa Agrícola with over 4,000 servings.
Beyond the festival, the Chamber of Commerce is working to retain young talent and foster entrepreneurship, emphasizing that the industrial fabric of Valls is one of the most powerful and diversified in Catalonia. Around 25 significant investments are expected in the industrial park in the coming months, including expansions of existing companies like Essity or Revlon, which poses a major challenge regarding housing shortages.
The Valls industrial park, covering nearly 1,000 industrial hectares in the Alt Camp area, is one of the largest concentrations in the country. To ensure its competitiveness, the Chamber considers infrastructure improvements crucial, such as the Port of Tarragona, seeking a powerful container terminal, and the Reus Airport, which offers competitive advantages with flights to European cities like Dublin, London, or Berlin.
