The Valls City Council has reactivated the new Local Police station project by publishing the tender for the ideas competition this December, after the initiative was halted in 2021.

The project's reactivation has been formalized through the publication of a tender for an ideas competition, which includes the «drafting of the basic preliminary project, executive project, and building management». This initiative, according to Territory Councilor Sònia Roca, responds to an urgent need.

"It was a priority since the previous legislature and has been achieved through agreements with the police force."

Along with the new building, the Valls council plans a future expansion of the Local Police staff, aiming to reach 55 to 60 officers. Specifically, an increase is expected over the next two years, including 10 commanders: one Inspector, three Sergeants, six Corporals, and a total of 35 additional agents.
The new station will have two floors (first floor and basement), parking, and a green area. The building will be constructed on a total planned area of 4,145 square meters, located between the reservoir, Carrer de l’Escorxador, and Carrer Sant Benet, also encompassing Carrer Sant Josep. The area will also be utilized to construct new housing buildings in an 808 square meter space.

The facilities do not meet the required security standards according to the specific regulations for police stations, such as armored doors with restricted access, as well as occupational hygiene.

The expansion is justified by the «lack of physical space» at the current location, which prevents staff increases. The current station is located at Baixada de l’Església, number 8, where it was installed in 1993 as a «provisional location», and suffers from accessibility issues and structural limitations.
