The environmental organization SOS Costa Brava will launch the pilot phase of the Camins Lliures project at the end of February to monitor the condition and free access of the Camí de Ronda path from Blanes to Portbou.

This first phase of the project will serve to test the monitoring methodology, volunteer training, and the system for detecting impacts and obstacles along the path. The ultimate goal is to create a stable environmental surveillance network that can progressively cover the entire Costa Brava coastline.
The initiative was made possible thanks to a successful citizen crowdfunding campaign that began in December. The campaign exceeded the initial goal of 6,600 euros, raising a total of 7,885 euros.

The Camins Lliures project is born with the will to recover the continuity of the Camí de Ronda, denounce closed or degraded sections, and guarantee that the coastline remains a public and accessible heritage.

SOS Costa Brava has given a very positive assessment of the campaign, emphasizing that the citizen response confirms the social concern for the current state of the Camí de Ronda and the commitment to its defense. The organization reminds the public that it does not receive structural public funding and its activity depends mainly on citizen support.
Although the crowdfunding campaign has concluded, the organization calls for continued collaboration. Contributions received from now on will be allocated both to the development of the Camins Lliures project and to the overall defense of the Girona coastline.
