The Catalan Meteorological Service has issued strong wind warnings from this Friday until Sunday, with gusts potentially reaching 100 km/h in coastal and pre-coastal areas of Tarragona and other regions.

The arrival of a storm train over the Iberian Peninsula has triggered warnings for sea storms and hurricane-force winds across various parts of the territory. The Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat) has issued alerts affecting about fifteen regions, including the Alt Empordà.
For Friday, forecasts already indicated westerly winds with strong gusts in sections of the coast and the central plateau. Five regions were initially under yellow warning, with winds up to 70 km/h: Baix Llobregat, Anoia, Alt Penedès, Baix Penedès, and Garraf.
The situation is expected to escalate by Saturday, when the winds will not only gain strength but also spread throughout the territory. Meteocat has activated orange level warnings, the most severe, covering regions such as Baix Llobregat, Penedès, Alt Camp, Tarragonès, and Baix Camp. In these areas, the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasts gusts that could reach 100 km/h.

Civil Protection has activated all protocols for this type of phenomenon and asks the public to take extreme precautions during outdoor activities.

In addition to the wind, the latest forecasts point to a generalized change in weather starting Saturday, with a significant drop in temperatures. A weekend of overcast and cold weather is expected. Starting Monday, the arrival of a new storm carrying rain and possible snowfall at high altitudes is not ruled out.
