The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Girona counties rose by two-tenths during December, mainly driven by a significant increase in tourist packages.

Prices in the Girona region experienced moderate growth at the close of 2026. The CPI increased by only two-tenths in December, despite the Christmas campaign. This rise is largely attributed to the 14.9% increase in tourist packages, coinciding with the holiday period.
Among the sectors that registered increases, alcohol and tobacco rose half a point compared to November, and supplies grew three-tenths. Transport services also stood out, with a 4.1% rise, and more moderately, footwear, books and press, and household appliances, which grew seven-tenths.
Conversely, the most significant drop was observed in accommodation services, which fell by 2.2% compared to the previous month. Telephony and alcohol also registered decreases close to two points, contributing to the moderation of the overall index.
Regarding year-on-year inflation, the rate in the Girona counties stood at 2.3%, practically the same level as in November, with a drop of only two-tenths. This stability is due to the fact that decreases in groups such as transport and accommodation services offset the increases in other sectors like clothing and household textiles.
