The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) announced that the price of natural gas for those under the Tarifa de Último Recurso (TUR) will decrease between 5.4% and 6.2% during the first quarter of 2026 in Spain.

This reduction in the consumed natural gas kWh price applies exclusively to users benefiting from the Tarifa de Último Recurso (TUR), the regulated price set by the Government of Spain. This tariff, which is reviewed quarterly, allows an average household consuming 9,000 kWh per year to save 26 euros annually, dropping from 619 to 593 euros.

"The regulated TUR tariff remains, by far, the most economical option for households and homeowner communities."

The OCU emphasizes that there are no offers in the free market that come close to the TUR price. The organization warns that even if a consumer believes they have a good current tariff price, it is "very likely that they are paying up to 50% more than with the regulated tariff." Therefore, the OCU recommends reviewing bills, especially during the winter, which is the period of highest heating consumption.
All consumers with an annual consumption below 50,000 kWh can opt for the TUR, including most households, small businesses, and homeowner communities using gas for heating or communal hot water. Currently, only four commercializers are responsible for distributing this regulated tariff: Comercializadora Regulada Gas&Power (part of the Naturgy group), Energía XXI (part of the Endesa group), Curenergia (part of the Iberdrola group), and Baser (part of the TotalEnergies group).
Finally, the OCU used the statement to demand that the Government guarantee more transparent and accessible information regarding gas and electricity prices. Among its requests is the obligation for companies to publish all their tariffs (including discontinued ones) and the permanent application of the VAT reduction for both gas and electricity.
