The Minister of Interior, Núria Parlon, announced on January 20 that Civil Protection is extending mobility restrictions in Empordà until midnight due to the heavy storm.

Civil Protection sent a new ES-Alert message to mobile phones in the area to confirm the extension of the measures, which affect Alt Empordà and Baix Empordà. The decision was made after a new meeting of the technical committee to assess the need to maintain mobility restrictions beyond five in the afternoon on Monday, January 20.
In her appearance, the Minister of Interior, Núria Parlon, indicated that the forecast is for schools to be able to return to “normalcy” starting Wednesday, once the rain episode has definitively subsided.

"The rain episode is decreasing, but water has accumulated significantly in areas where the main tributaries of the Ter River pass, so prudence must be maintained in the coming days."

Despite the decrease in the intensity of the storm, water accumulation in the main tributaries of the Ter River remains a risk factor. Authorities have reiterated the call for the population of Empordà to avoid unnecessary travel and follow safety instructions.
